FairFlow FAQ
Clear answers about FairFlow minute packs, request limits, transcription constraints, and semantic search.
FairFlow is pay-as-you-go. You buy a pack of transcription minutes once, and those minutes are added to your account balance. There is no subscription, no auto-renewal, and no monthly fee.
No. Once you buy minutes, they stay in your account until you use them. Quiet week, quiet month, or quiet year: your purchased minutes do not disappear just because time passes.
Minutes are deducted based on the actual duration of the audio you transcribe. For example, a recording that is about 90 seconds long uses about 1.5 minutes from your balance. We return both the deducted amount and your remaining balance after each successful transcription.
The /whisper/ transcription endpoint is currently limited to 5 requests per minute, 40 requests per hour, and 150 requests per day per client. These limits help keep transcription fast and reliable for everyone.
The /search/ endpoint is currently limited to 25 requests per minute and 120 requests per hour. There is no separate daily search limit configured at the moment.
Yes. Because FairFlow uses OpenAI transcription infrastructure, individual recordings are currently limited to about 10 minutes. We know longer recordings matter, and we are working on improving support for longer sessions.
Search is based on meaning, not just exact keyword matches. FairFlow turns your query and saved notes into embeddings, then looks for notes that are semantically similar. That means a search for "client follow-up" can find a note that says "email Sarah about the proposal" even if the exact words are different.
If your balance is empty, transcription requests are rejected until you add more minutes. Your existing notes stay available, and buying another pack simply adds new minutes to the same account balance.
Yes. Your minute balance belongs to your FairFlow account, so it can be used across supported devices where you are signed in.
To use FairFlow dictation on Mac, install the FairFlow Shortcut first. After installation, it appears in the macOS Shortcuts app. From there, you can add it to your Dock, launch it at any time, dictate your text, and copy the result to your clipboard.
No AI transcription or cleanup system is perfect. FairFlow is designed to produce useful, structured text quickly, but you should review important notes, names, numbers, tasks, and deadlines before relying on them.
No. FairFlow uses OpenAI APIs for transcription and text processing, and API data is not used to train OpenAI models. Your notes remain tied to your FairFlow account and can be managed from the app.
Throttling protects the service from accidental loops, abusive traffic, and sudden spikes that could slow down transcription or search for other users. It also helps us keep pay-as-you-go pricing predictable.
